Chocolate Ice Cream

Recipe

Ingredients

  • 175g (6oz) Dr. Oetker Extra Dark Continental Chocolate, melted
  • 425ml (¾ pint) whole milk
  • 3 medium size egg yolks
  • 125g (4½ oz) caster sugar
  • 150ml (1/4 pint) double cream, lightly whipped
  • 200g (7oz) Dr. Oetker Milk Chocolate Chips

Method

  1. Bring the milk to the boil then remove from the heat.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks and sugar together until light and fluffy, then gradually whisk in the milk.
  3. Return to the heat and stir continuously until the mixture thickens slightly. Do not allow to simmer or boil.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the melted chocolate.
  5. Chill until cool then fold in the whipped cream.
  6. Stir in the Milk Chocolate Chips then pour into a suitable container and place in the freezer.
  7. Freeze for an hour then remove and stir thoroughly. Continue this process until fully frozen.
  8. Remove from freezer for 15 minutes before serving.

Makes: 4 – 6 servings
